watched a show about that damned place. it discussed the people that come there to make all this money they're promised...they jump at the chance to make a better life for themselves, and their families, since dubai knows full well that third world countries have lots of poor people to take advantage of.

they arrive, passport taken. money paid a fraction of what they were promised. they can't leave, because they have no money and no passport. they can't get help, because the govt doesn't care. it's disgusting. human trafficking on a grand scale....
and then there are the expats who move there, 'hire' household help, and brag about how great it is to have domestic help....that's paid a pittance, work for long hours, with no days off, beaten, abused and worse.
