McCabe and Mrs. Miller ( because I love Altman and he died last week )

it's fun to see what other people list as their favorite movies -- good topic!

mine, in no particular order are:
breakfast at tiffany's
house of sand and fog
the hours
play it as it lays
gone with the wind
far from heaven
die hard! (world's best action movie)
terminator 2 (world's best action movie part II)

ok that's only eight, but they're my favorites

obviously i like literature more than movies

Reading these lists, one thing I find interesting is that you can look at someone else's list and see where they picked one or two of the same movies as your list, but then they have other movies that you find repulsive.

I didn't see this yesterday. no actually i wasn't going to name any names, but since you asked....
no i don't find any of yours repulsive. some i haven't seen. i really like several on each of your lists. which is what i was getting to. the repulsive remark was too strong.
just interesting to see where there is agreement and where there is disagreement.

I also forgot Shawshank which is at the top of my list.Peter Sellers was fabulous in Dr. Strangelove as well as George C. Scott.A young James Earl Jones was in it too.
