I must be missing something. Is this league a joke? I just thought it was someone trying to make things better. I guess I was wrong.

If I remember correctly this already exists and is not a new idea.

It wasn't a rousing success but was a kernel of a good idea and hardly a dismal failure under the scenario as it happened.. The HRL concept that Adena executed was an outgrowth of a different, larger idea of partnerships. There were securities intricacies involved in the big package that could not be finalized on a timely basis, so they backed off that and split the horses into the league grouping and sold simple $6,000 buy-ins (10 horses in a team). Some people like my friend Chet bought a share in all 6 teams so he essentially was following 60 horses for $36,000. (Ginger Punch, Ghostzapper, Macho Uno, etc..)

People that bought in had a blast as 'their horses' ran a lot and many got to be in win photos. The horses were spread around to a bunch of trainers -- large and small -- which of course was a good thing too. At the end of the 'season', the horses were sold and shareholders got back respective returns. Jack Brothers assembled the bloodstock for the HRL which produced SW's Pyrite Mountain & Montana Native among others.

I haven't talked to Brothers about the how the sales turned out, but you'd think the experience was a positive and likely produced some owners in a other partnerships or out on their own.

Their Facebook page is still up.. https://www.facebook.com/HorseRacingLeague

His remark was regarding Porter's comment about Normandy Invasion not running in the second half of 2013.

You know the business is in trouble when so many people are willing to sign up for a project that doesn't actually have a framework or even a plan, unworkable or not.

Industry people do more harm with "plans" that have lofty goals and no real chance to ever happen, that will always make any programs that actually do come about pale in comparison.
