Reifenstahl, who only passed away in the last couple of years, was a remarkable woman. And an immense talent at virtually every endeavor she undertook including deep sea diving/underwater photography while in her 70's.

I have no issue with Reifenstahl's craft, or the brilliance of 'Triumph' and 'Olympia' from a technical/artistic standpoint. But her utter refusal to fully acknowledge her role in the buildup of the pre-war Reich dooms her place in film history. It is not entirely different from Elia Kazan NEVER living down the "naming of names" during the HUAC hearings/Blacklist era. It's a lasting tarnish that skews the appreciation for the artist.
