People like to fondly remember the past, but that was some ugly damn basketball played back in the days when Riley and Daly were coaching the Knicks and Pistons. Sure, they were tougher, but the game was very hard to watch.

Pretty sure in the title year the Bullets weren't much above 500. They also beat the Spurs in the Conference Finals, who were in the East back then. San Antonio had won the division.
