![]() There's never been anybody to love except Durkin in his prime. Nobody else has ever approached that. "They are who we thought they were."

![]() I couldn't take Johnson's yelling during a race. Everytime Colmus was calling the Derby on NBC you could not hear him because Johnson was yelling in the background.
I was a big fan of Harry Henson @ Hollywood Park back in the day and Dave Johnson was good when he called at Santa Anita. I also think Vic was good and deserve a shot at a top tier track. |

![]() I'm going to miss Collmus from Monmouth. It's a great move for him and Churchill.
For the record, I love Dooley too. Eventually the day will come when Durkin hangs it up, I would love to see Dooley become the voice of NYRA.

![]() Hearing Dooley everyday is a good thing. That said, he is as correct as any out there. He gets a little overboard sometimes with the descriptions but all in all, he is absolutely my number 1.
To each his own, I guess I am in the minority when it comes to Mark Johnson because I thought he was very good. I really enjoyed his calls. |

![]() Unfortunately like everything else, this becomes an east coast west coast thing...Denman couldn't sniff Durkin's jock....thus Zenyatta. A useful mare. Denman, a useful caller.

![]() I agree that it's just like music, where you could argue who the best band is? Its just a matter of who sounds good to your ear. However you do lose some credibility saying she was just a useful mare. The race she ran against Blame was one of the most exciting races I have seen in awhile at that point of time.

![]() "Into the final furlong, ‘My Wife Knows Everything.’ ‘The Wife Doesn’t Know.’ They’re one, two. Of course they are,”
“To the outside, ‘The Wife Doesn’t Know. ‘My Wife Knows Everything.’ ‘The Wife Doesn’t Know.’ ‘My Wife Knows Everything’ more than ‘The Wife Doesn’t Know!” Just reading this transcript alone, I couldnt tell who won the race. This is Collmus career highlight. An obscure claiming race at Monmouth on a weekday. Yawn Collmus sounds like he is on auto-pilot when he calls the races. There is no feel or emotion that Denman, Vic, Durkin, and Mark Johnson do when they call the races. Even Denman's Zenyatta! race you can sense the dissapointment and/or excitement from him. If you want auto-pilot announcers....stick with Mike Battaglia |
