i could see him getting another year, since they did manage to win a few after freemans departure.

It will come down to who's available and if that candidate is a fit. They won't can him without a better alternative. But to say he's done enough to earn a 2nd chance is ludicrous. If he's back next year, it will simply be because there were no viable alternatives available, not because he earned it by any stretch of the imagination IMO.

If Rex Ryan becomes available, he'll be here I'm sure.

Multiple sources reporting that he's has contacted Penn State and is considered a top candidate to replace bill O'brien should he leave for the NFL

no surprise, glad it happened.

i was surprised, tho, that the browns sent their coach packing after just one year.
there was word that the vikes let their coach go, but then minnesota said no, that they hadn't.

will schwartz remain? doubt it.
and sorry, jets fans. the owner wants to continue the punishment.

Frazier in Minny is gone. I would be shocked if Schwartz wasn't canned either. Garrett's a yes man, that's the only reason that he still has a job.

As far as Rex goes, I think you are way off base. He did a tremendous job with a team that frankly wasn't that good. He's still is the best fit for that team/organization. I think it was a wise move. Don't forget, he's still pretty much a pup as far as his Head Coaching career goes, you would think that he himself will continue to get better as a coach as well.

Sources reporting Bill O'Brien to be named HC of the Houston Texans tomorrow, opening the door for our recently departed to show off his mad skillz at Penn State. Quite a resume to walk into that job with.

The Bucs make a surprising early move (they learned their lesson apparently) bringing Lovie Smith back. I was sort of hoping we would go after a more offensive-minded HC, considering the holes that need to be filled particularly at QB. Without a GM in place most likely until after the playoffs, I'd say the are going to wait before naming any further appointments, though rabid speculation has recently fired Cal coach Jeff Tedford as the OC and Leslie Frazier as the DC. That would be quite a coup to pull off indeed.

Lovie Smith is a disaster as a coach. Good Luck with him

The game has completely changed since he was effective. Look a the playoffs - Every team in is Offense-driven. It's not 2000 any more ~ his coaching style is passe and ill-effective in today's game.

Believe me, I wasn't jumping up and down like everyone else in this town was when he was announced. I'm hoping for the best and looking forward to next year optimistically. Definitely an improvement, but we need to see what other rabbits the Glazers pull out of their hats. I hate it that the GM is not even being talked about, considering his input should be vital in the direction of the franchise, but this is the game today - if you wait until after the playoffs to install a GM, there are no quality coaching prospects left, as they learned 2 years ago.
