Default Primer on Pedigrees?

Steve and others,

Where can I find more info on what a particular sire "specializes" in? In other words, I've often heard that Dynaformer's progeny are better-suited for turf & distance. Or that Medaglia D'Oro produces better fillies than colts. Etc, etc.

A few questions:

1. Is there a place (book, website) I can find out more about *specific* sire's characteristics?

2. Do these characteristics hold up over time or do they gradually give way as new offspring develop their own style?

Thanks for the input. I'm always trying to learn more.

#2 is an interesting question that I don't have the answer to.
