I didn't think the slight bump made much of a difference and agree that they were mixing it up, agree the call is right.

We disagree. I think that horses just don't want to pass when they get bumped or carried out. They just can't stride out as fully as they would otherwise. But this bad news for JV. A couple of years ago he was the best finisher in NY and one of the best around. Now, he's behind Rosario and Castellano.

I agree with you 100%. As you know I am the first person to go nuts on herding even when the drift out just intimidates a horse from passing (which I believe is an unfair tactic that is often used and never penalized).

I just thought in this situation the 2 came in first and that the 8 didn't really come back in and hit the 2 that much to have an effect on the result particularly since it was so close to the line.

Having said that, I have a great deal of respect for your opinions, particularly on herding, and share the opinion that it does shorten strides and often unfairly does not get called. We just disagree with the effect it had in this instance.

I appreciate that, Jimmy.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that based upon the JCGC thread in the Paddock that 10 point does not share the same opinion.

They let Laughing go 1:16 in a Grade I and they thought they could catch her? Wow.
