Wasn't that Paynter wasn't ready though he was a little flat-footed. Velazquez beat the gate with Alpha who more or less lunged forward a beat before the gates sprung.

I just saw the replay, the start looked fair. Agree Paynter was a little flat-footed out of the gate.

Everything Baffert/Zayat/Lukas ran today was flat. Ship cross country for this?? Ugly.

Hopefully Alpha goes straight to the Breeder's Cup and takes a bunch of money now.

I know he's not going to be the favorite or anything, but any dead $$ is a good thing. If this is the last line on his form, maybe he could sneak down to single digits?

I agree with you on this, he will take dead money and whatever Alpha takes will make him an underlay.
