6/1-2 (HOL): Californian S. (G2); Affirmed S. (G3)

Maybe being too cute in this race but I am going to make a play on Counting Days. He was moved way too soon in the El Camino Real Derby where he faced Manado and Dice Flavor. Manando can win but hoping Broadway Empire jumps him early and Counting Days gets first run. Certainly Dens Legacy can win but just looking at the prices its pretty tough to take a horse like him, or Tiz a Minister, or even Dice Flavor at relatively short odds when they all appear pretty much trip and pace dependent, so I will take the horse who is forwardly placed and will be about 10/1.

Four horses interest me

1) Broadway Empire – making 3rd start but has done nothing wrong thus far, should be in 1st flight
3) Just win Baby – should move forward 1st time blinkers –use in the 3rd spot only
7) Dice Flavor 1st time lasix and gets Smith, wouldn't have to move forward much to win here
8) Manando should inherit the lead and dictate pace.

I thought Broadway Empire's second last time was a bit dressed up, after Let Em Shine ran the other horses into the ground someone had to run second. Could win I suppose, wonder how they bet him, if he floats I could see using him at decent odds, if they bet him down I would want no part of him.

Not sure there was anything dressed-up about his last out. Made one run after sitting 3-wide from the gate and a hand ride to the wire. On paper shows to have a pretty good sized gas-tank as does Dice Flavor

I also don't want part of any horse which is bet down unless there's value in using in an exotic.
