You should have paid a visit to the "new" Jefferson Downs before it was turned into a subdivision.

When would that have been? I went to Jefferson in Oct., 1964 while stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. I was driving back to the base through New Orleans in my 1959 Chevy when I got stopped for speeding. Had to spend a night in the Crescent City pokey until my bud from the base got there the next morning to bail me out.

The new track was built on the lakefront in Kenner in the early 1970s. It was a dump, but I sure miss the place.

My father was stationed at Keesler from the 1950s to 1960-61.
