America's oldest living veteran plans to celebrate Memorial Day at his Texas home like he always does: on the porch, smoking a cigar and sipping a cup of coffee stiffened with whiskey. Richard Arvine Overton, a 107-year-old World War II veteran, was formally recognized as the country's oldest living veteran earlier this month, traveling to Washington, D.C., for the first time. |

Just got back from 4 great days back home in PA...
On monday we were at my sis's apmt and in the lobby i spotted a guy with a WWII cap..I had my AF cap on..told him my 4 years were all in country..thanked him for his service and said 'you look too young to be a WWII vet'...he said heck man i'm 88!..we chatted for awhile...good guy.. ![]()
