I would guess about 10-20% of the people here read the International Board. Coolmore is not just International. Ashford is American. Last time I looked it was in Versailles, KY, not Versailles France.

Its a great website, I found myself unable to leave it when I went there, great stuff for sure.
But since you know so much I'm wondering how you could blow the prediction on a stud fee so badly, I mean 100 grand after saying 250-300 grand? Geez, don't call us, we'll call you.

His loss to Invasor cost him about $150K per. A win was going to start him at $250K. At the Keeneland sale many felt he was still going to $150K. Mineshaft and the reduction in Ghostzapper left them in a little bind. That operation is not exactly in it for the money though and I would imagine the lower fee is to attract the top mares.

Had he won and been Horse of the Year, $250K was the fee. Not sure where I said this anyway. He isn't my horse and I don't set the fee. I don't have any broodmares of that quality anyway.

Dehere has always been one of my favorite stallions and now a favorite broodmare sire... watch his clips. How he's not remembered as one of the most explosive 2yo's ever is beyond me. He was brilliant as a juvenile.

It was a very impressive summer. Other than Take Charge Lady though, his career as a stallion has been a little disappointing in America. I would go with Deputy Commander out in CA before going to him. If you really have money and like the Deputy Minister's, you have Touch Gold at 50K and obviously Awesome Again who is very expensive.

His summer in Saratoga though will never be repeated. 2 stakes wins is great, but 3 in one meet is unheard of.

His results are misleading because he's stood a big part of his career in Japan and his results there arent the best, especially when compared to French Deputy. His fertility is also a point of contention... but at 20k, he's a bargain.

Dehere was an exceptional 2YO who unfortunately didn't get much chance as a 3YO. His win in the Fountain of Youth was tainted somewhat by Holy Bull displacing but he was a good horse. I think he was more of a closing sprinter in reality. His wins at Saratoga were some of the most visually impressive races I have ever seen.

To be fair, his loss to Holy Bull in the Futurity ( and I bet Holy Bull that day ) was as much the result of Holy Bull being loose on a sloppy speed track as anything. I loved Holy Bull but as 2YOs it's hard to say he was a better horse than Dehere.

Yes. City Zip did it 6 or 7 years ago. He probably will be the last of them. They have set it up now where 2yr olds are likely to run 2x at most, but never 3x in a meet.

I think the thing that made Dehere more impressive was he turned around and then won the Champagne too.

I could be wrong but in something like 85 years only two horses have done what they did.

Yeah that was after a loss to Holy Bull in the Futurity.

You have a better memory than me. It seems like there was a lot better 2yr old racing back then.
