very. i remember years ago, when a brash young kid was setting the maryland racing scene on fire. he's grown up, but i don't know that he's matured.
seems the conflict is between him and his denial, and his family who can do nothing but hope that kent decides to get his act together.
see this all too often, people in acting or sports, or music, who just lose themselves. all that talent, and they blow it.

Interesting to see he is heading to Arlington. Since Douglas got hurt, that meet has been begging for a name rider. We'll see if he can return to his form from his glory days.

trust and a good reputation are far easier to lose than to regain. he needs to work his ass off and keep out of trouble.
if he wants to go home after work and have a drink, he has that right. but he better limit himself to one, and i'm not talking about a big gulp size.

Chuck, with all due respect, you haven't spent any time around Kent in quite a while. He's doing well and looking forward to a successful Arlington meet.

With all due respect he is a classic functional alcoholic. Many people don't understand what that means or what the signs are but once they do it becomes painfully obvious.

Put it this way, if he wasn't this story would have never been written. Going to Arlington Park isn't a cure, it is a symptom.

And I don't have anything against him at all. I hope he gets his life in order and finishes his career on a good note. The truth is that his hardest days are ahead of him because he can't ride forever.

Pretty much. If you are even a functional alky you can't drink. It's that simple.

Getting owned by the likes of Channing Hill, Florent Geroux, and Fatty Perez at Arlington this past summer...maybe he should have gone back to drinking.
