Per Santa Anita Stable Notes, Demonic is possible for the Arkansas Derby or the Blue Grass.

Palace Malice may run in the Blue Grass. Pletcher sounded like it was a real possibility on TV immediately after the race, and Cot Cambell said the same thing as quoted in an article in the Augusta Chronicle:
"Not quite ready to concede that there is no Run for the Roses in Palace Malice’s future, Campbell noted, “If he comes out of this thing all right, we’d have to take a look at the Blue Grass (to be run three weeks hence at Keeneland). He deserves another chance.”" --Dunbar

What right thing? The horse was fine in the allowance comeback, and had a dreadful post/trip in the FL derby. What is exactly wrong with him that they couldn't regroup and take a look at either the Lexington or IL derby then Preakness? Or give him a few more weeks and maybe the Peter Pan / Belmont route?
To run twice since November, then say he's off the trail because "We're going to take our time with him" sounds all too familiar from that barn. That's all I meant. I would not be surprised if that was the last time we see the horse on the track. |
