Let me start by saying I am very biased on this topic. First, I am a monster fan of Migliore, both personally and professionally. I have always considered it an honor and a privilege to know him. Second, he has one edge that I think is a huge one (although I am not sure if it could potentially be a negative as I am not in that end of the business) -- and that's Ron Anderson. Third, Richie is an extremely "intelligent" jockey -- one of the smartest jockeys on the track anywhere. He has ridden for me and called audibles -- 3 steps out of the gate -- that were incredible. He is a true student of the game. He also has an incredible passion for the game.

Anyway, it's not like Jerry Bailey or Edgar Prado is heading out there for a meet or two. I had thought it would take time for him to even get mounts -- and while I didn't see the races, the first three mounts he had were 10-1 and 20-1 ML's I think. I haven't checked the results or entried in a few days but I will. It takes time to build business anywhere unless you already have clients there, or someone asked you to come out there and ride for them.

I for one am rooting for him -- always.

Eric

I haven't spoken to him since last Friday, before his first mount, but he was very upbeat and optimistic. He said he had been getting on a lot of good horses in the mornings, meeting a lot of people who were very favorable, and he understood it would take a little while before he would be able to build up his business. Working with Ron will be good and I will be surprised if good things aren't happening for him soon.

I know I'll be rooting hard for him.

I think most everybody out here hopes he does well.I am just saying the reality of the situation is that if you own a lazy filly like this Maemy, you're gunna want the weight break back(with Garcia.) I mean,ya got a guy who can ride great, and he has a weight break (still.)I can't really make a case for passing on him for somebody who has to carry full weight. Not unless it is a top 3 type jock.Lets face it,smart guy, or not,you have one agent with 2 jocks. One jock is riding 3/1 shots atleast 4 or 5 times a day,and the other is lucky to ride 1 mount a day. That would be tough for Jesus himself to be able to handle. We will see what happens. He needs some Eastern trainers to start running more horses here. When the hell is Dutrow gunna run more horses? So far,he hasn't run many(both tanked at low odds.)O'neil will help anybody out,but that guy is a particularly nice guy.Hess is another nice guy,but like I said,he has to listen to his owners(because he doesn't have the results that Oneil has.)
