This is the reply from my local station after my complaint. Sounds like they chose to show their local programming instead of the BC Classic.
NBC had provided the station with a 1-hour local window on Saturday night. Due to Notre Dame Football running late that 1-hour window did not become available until 7:50 – 8:50pm during the Breeder’s Cup. Michael Riddle program/operations manager
