Wagering strategy should always depend on how you view the race and series of races in a sequence as a whole.

Having a generic approach before you have opinions and theories on a race is never a good idea.

I'm never a big fan of excessive spreading.

I agree. Excessive spreading means you should pass on the bet. Try a quick pick instead.

A dollar here, a dollar there, you may get lucky. In addition to your handicapping.

Anyone who asks for a quick pick is playing the wrong game.

My strategy will be to pick the horse that reached the finish line before the rest of the other horses.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Its not a Monday at Parx. You have huge fields, many horses that can win, massive pools and you get massive payouts. You spread and catch the 40-1 horse that blows up the Pick 3 to 10K.

People who bet their top selection to win? If you like a horse, who cares how high the odds are?

There is a common perception among horseplayers that if a horse they like is too high in odds, something must be wrong with it.

That whole dead on the board thing.

I stopped doing that the first (and only) time I talked myself off a $50 winner.

That is what makes me a good handicapper but a lousy gambler!
So many times I have got off a horse because of "Hi-Odds"dead on the board.
This is The Bain of my existance!
That and the S.D.Chargers!

There are so many good horses in the BC races you do need some luck to win however you bet.

The pace scenario will be important to find an edge for a horse.

I'm going to disagree with most of you on this thread. This day is all about the verticals, and the supers are the place to be. Playing in increments of 10 cents allows you to spread to catch the bombs. Look at the payoffs from the last several years and you'll see those pools offer the best chance to catch real jackpots, even when favorites are involved.

What are the wagering options? $.10 supers? $0.50 pk3s and pk4s? $0.50 tris?

Thanks
