What about the 2004 BC Classic where you had Ghostzapper, Roses in May, and Pleasantly Perfect? None of the fillies in this year's Distaff could have gotten within 5 lengths of the winner in that 2004 BC Classic.

Gentleman and Running Stag were the other two in that field.

Running Stag was 104/1 and was going 1st time lasix in the race. He was a tough globe trotting bleeder whose connections liked to run him here.

How many 104-1 shots do you see run 107 Beyers? That kind of BSF would make him odds on in most races now.

Yeah -- the Beyer figures for top class older males have really shrunk.

Running Stag was a very good horse here on lasix.

Here he is battling with Behrens and Real Quiet in the '99 Mass Cap.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQPS-eRBuVo

He won the Brooklyn Handicap by 7+ lengths over Sir Bear and Golden Missile next time out getting 9fs in 1:46.20 and he won the Mass Cap the following year.
