I see it as an opportunity to improve all major tracks. Get the city or some high finance business to throw a ton of money expanding/renovating these places. It'll be like the All-Star games of our major sports and the Superbowl. Prove your worth and host the BC every other year (leave it at Churchill on opposite years).

this is probably a dumb question but i'll ask anyway.
could Colonial Downs hold the BC? we were there this summer and the facilities were very nice but i don't know if it's big enough? the weather would be nicer too.

Can't blame the BC for that.....they should just have it at CD every year anyway IMO...its just the ultimate venue for what you need to put on a proper BC...

Belmont is the closest thing to CD in what it can offer, but I HATE the fact they run one-turn races for both the Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies....absolutely hate it......it gives horses like Wild Fit (closing sprinters) a chance to win the races.....they are not a legit 'route' races and true sprinters can be fooled enough to run huge in the races....check Henny Hughes in last year's Juvy..damn near won it on the lead...

Im of the opposite opinion.
I think at the age of 2, the champion should not be decided by who runs best in a route race.
i think the BCJ and BCJF should be run at 8f.
at the age of 2, its about who develops the quickest.
its not supposed to be an indication of who is goiing to be the best 3YO or older horse down the line.

on the Arc undercard, they run their biggest 2YO races of the year for Europe(Grand Criterium and Prix Marcel) at 7 and 8f respectively.
thats the way it should be done here.
its ridiculous to run the BCJF at 8.5f and the BC Distaff at only 9f.
its the same damn race. horses are not expected to progress more than .5f in a year's time?

i agree completely. it's ridiculous how little difference in distance they expect an older horse to run compared to a 2 yo. either the juvies should be shorter (and they absolutely should be) or the distaff and classic should be longer. actually, not either, they should all be adjusted.

yeah,
this is one point we do agree on Zeig.

I hear a lot of talk about a dirt mile for the BC.
thats fine, but then you need to lengthen the BC Distaff to 9.5 or 10f.

oh, we've had our share of agreements...not a whole lot, but some.

i'd like to see a dirt mile, certainly would appeal to many.

As long as its a TWO-TURN mile - then I'm fine with that....the intrigue with the BC Juvy IMO is to gauge next year's Triple Crown contenders, and if we make it ONE TURN than it is nothing more than a long sprint IMO - which is what we don't need....
