Yes he was. He told that funny story when asked why he was running Nobiz Like Shobiz in the Champagne off one race. He asked Whitely after Ruffian won her maiden if he would look for an allowance for her and Whitely said something like "does she look like she needs an allowance race."

sam sheppard reminds me a lot of chris cooper as an actor.
always does a good job.
not sure why they did this as a made for television movie.
seems like Bill Knack could have done better for his book.

Ill watch it I suppose, but these horse movies are always filled with factual mistakes that leave me a little p*ssed off.

I want to know when the Barbaro movie is coming off.
with all the press the story has recieved, it can not be far behind.
seems kind of boring.

-brilliant turf horse
switches to dirt.
hates Gulfstream but is so good he wins anyway.
wins KY Derby.
gets hurt, then ppl hand pick grass for him and send him get well cards as if he is the first horse in the history of time to master the english language.

not all that exciting.

Nack was the technical advisor for the film and reviewed the rushes daily so the accuracy part should be well served. In terms of 'doing better' by the book, the film was originally going to be on ESPN but now appears to be debuting on ABC instead because the producers and network(s) feel it is of theatrical quality.
