i will never purport to have the wisdom or life experience that many of the members here may have -- that's a given because of the age. however, i've got quite a story to tell from my 23 years. they've been full of more great and more horrible things than i care to revisit, which is why i get frustrated beyond belief when people have a preconceived notion of what my life is like, the intelligence i may or may not have and the life experiences i may or may not have had. you would likely be surprised. as long as we can agree that i don't really know you and you don't really know me, then these conversations are fine. this is ONE of the very few things that I am stupid passionate about from more personal experiences with friends than any male should have, so I don't consider this an issue on which I am following social lines. You're free to dispute that, but as long as I've put that out there, I feel better about it. and yes, this is the best place for horse racing i've just been missing out the whole time until last month when i finally checked it out. |

i can't imagine not getting involved (even though i was previously involved) and saying something about that. what if someone had found that on the internet and watched it and just didn't think -- but was so mortified by what they were seeing that it never occurred to them that it could be wildly exaggerated and at times, outright false? i just will never pretend to be familiar with something that i am not. you will not catch me pretending i know a thing about mortgages, veterinary medicine, or how on EARTH (!) marshmallows get made, among other things. there isn't much else to say, but that when we inevitably end up arguing politics or abortion in the future -- to just remember that my life has created my beliefs, not the other way around. |

Your life has created your beliefs....how is that exactly?

I've moved around a bunch, met lots of different people, and done lots of different things (some good, some terrible). Those experiences have shaped and created my beliefs. My beliefs did not shape the path my life took, because I was more or less a blank slate halfway through high school. For example, I was an atheist. For example, I used to trend far far FAR more liberal -- to the point of being insane about it instead of reasonable. Experiences in my life have changed these beliefs. Not sure if I'm saying it the right way. Now I need to move to the Esoteric room. Though I'm blaming you. |

Well...I was never far far lib..but I dabbled. Funny...but moderation in all things. If you qualify all your experiences, and then whittle that down to find out who you are ..then you're ahead of the game!
