They aren't going to win 70, but they weren't that far off OKC in the playoffs this season. They upgraded at PG, signed a solid role player in Antawn Jamison and upgraded defensively with Howard. Who cares if Gasol is soft?

I think Bynum is a fantastic talent, but he can be a liability at defense. Not to mention he has a history of injuries. So they roll the dice with Howard because they realize Kobe has maybe 3 years left. I've always kind of thought Howard was overrated, but he should fit well with Nash. Maybe Kobe can light a fire under Howard and get him to stop being a clown and focus more.

I think they will be an improved team from last year. If that is the case and OKC doesn't get better I don't think there is THAT much separating the two teams. OKC is very, very good. But the Lakers additions made the gap that smaller between them.

I dont disagree with anything you said. Bynum is good, but has issues. You may have lost him anyway. If you resign Howard great, if not, you lost Bynum. I think Howard is just big and a superb athlete. I have never seen much of a back to the basket game from him. No real mid range game either. If his back injury slows him down at all, what is he? You never really said anything about Miami.... And I said that they are maybe as good as OKC. Im just not sure Nash is much against Westbrook. Then you have Ibaka and Perkins to throw at Howard. One team is young, much younger. Almost every player on OKC is going into his prime. Lakers are much older, and almost every player is almost finished. Even with all that said.... I have the Lakers as a top 4 team right now. Nothing wrong with that.

1. Miami
2. OKC
3. Lakers
4. Pacers/Celtics

The Lakers don't need a mid range game from Howard, so who cares that he doesn't have one?

You're caught up on stuff like age, because I suspect that even you realize how ridiculous it is to be having this conversation now. Let's let them start camp before we start putting up meaningless lists.

They need to dust off Phil and bring him back for this crew.
