I think your being a bit hard on him. It is only his 5th or 6th career start. No one can deny that Grade 3,three back was a Grade 1. He faced some of the best sprinter/milers and ran very well. Again he was thrown to the absolute best 2 back and had a bit of a trip. Then last time he rates kindly and gets the confidence booster plus more racing experience. I may be a sucker for the upside, we shall see. Good luck

Royal Carrier is a more likely pacesetter than Sloane Ranger IMO. Will be interesting to see what Velazquez does on Shackleford.

I think tomorrow is Emcee's coming out party as the best sprinter on the east coast. He has a legit excuse in the Carter, when he missed the break by at least 3-4 lengths, then rushed up. He tired, as expected. His last was strong and he really exploded the last 1/8 when Garcia asked him for run. Obviously the time off is a concern, but he's the real deal IMO.

I think this is right. I also can say with 100% certainty that Sloane Ranger is not making the lead in this race.

i think he'll go for it-whether he gets it is another story. at any rate, i think the front end may be crowded.

I don't see why that affects Emcee. He's proven himself rating.

Exactly. If Emcee is going to lose this race, it's likely not going to be because he was unable to get the lead.

One of my concerns with Emcee is that he's obviously fragile, and the thought that he was given a freshening is idiotic, because he had works between his last race and now then was stopped on. Thus, you have two favorites who admittedly did not bounce out of their last races well.

Lost amid the Belmont day races was the quality of the race Justin Phillip ran in the True North. The Monmouth race he came back in is a throwout in my opinion, and his 3rd place finish in the King's Bishop over this track was very strong. He's the other horse to me in a race with only 3 potential win candidates.

Considering he spotted a field full of Grade 1 winners 5 lengths at the start and was 4-wide on the turn, I don't think that was a terrible effort.
