There is now a 100% chance that my bubble will remain intact.

Violette has had killer numbers with babies going all the way back to '98 -- and this one today isn't slow with the running start (was an 8k yearling turned 40k 2yo) -- but considering the stock he gets, this is not one of the ones of his you'd want and this one doesn't figure to be a fast breaker either. Maybe a look 2nd time out on the drop to high priced MCL.

Looks like the opening weekend disaster for Pletcher has come to an end.

From all the 2yo's TAP started off with last year, Gemologist is all he had left standing for the summer classics? Cmon man!

Pletcher with 2yo first-time starters at Saratoga:

31-for-151 (21% wins and $1.71 ROI)

Pletcher with all horses age 3 and up:

70-for-374 (19% wins and $1.27 ROI)

That's a 36.5% loss on every dollar bet -- from a 5-year sample. Way more than double the takeout.

Any horse he had who ran well at Gulfstream Park -- is an especially terrible bet at Saratoga.

What with Pletcher these days. Horses showing up with works in .59 , .47. etc. What happened to the cookie cutter works of .49, 1.02 for every horse. Change in training style ?

What do you do with Pletcher's pair in the finale tomorrow? Big Creek and Dan and Shiela?

Personally, I will be trying to get Springcourt involved (hopefully) at a price.

Ugh. That's one of those leap of faith races, either single Big Creek or go all.
