Dutrow is probably the closest thing New York has seen to a Jeff Mullins over the last 15 years.
Dutrow debuted only 25 horses last year -- and 18 so far this year -- a lot of them debuted in maiden claiming races. He's won a Breeders Cup Classic and a Kentucky Derby and trained a Horse of the Year. Dutrow doesn't get shunned with bigger owners as much as Mullins though. As far as the 2012 stats go: Dutrow: 77-for-265 (29% wins) $1,96 ROI Mullins: 25-for-107 (23% wins) $2.99 ROI Larry Jones: 31-for-109 (28% wins) $2.72 ROI That trio has been magical over the last 15 years. Of the three, Mullins has been by far the most shunned by owners. |
