BALTIMORE - I’ll Have Another came into the Preakness facing one of the toughest possible tactical situations in racing. His most formidable rival, Bodemeister, was the solitary front-runner in the field and would be able to control the pace as his jockey dictated. That’s usually a formula for victory whether the scenario develops in a maiden race or the second leg of the Triple Crown.

So when I’ll Have Another made his last surge in the Pimlico stretch and caught the leader, this wasn’t simply a case of a stretch-runner overhauling a tired leader. Bodemeister is a superior speed horse, and he ran as well today as he has ever done in his short career. I’ll Have Another’s performance - though the winning margin was only a neck - was much more impressive and authoritative than his triumph in the Kentucky Derby two weeks earlier.

Just an opinion but Bode seems to me as a very fast horse that can run a good distance. He doesn't look like he is prepared for a fight. Thoughts?

It seems to me that he's been completely spent and staggering at the end of each of the two Triple Crown races. I thought he would gallop yesterday, but there was part of me that was hoping Baffert would pass on the Preakness in favor of the Met Mile. I would really like to see what he could do at 7 or 8 furlongs, kind of like Shackleford.

Are you high? He's never been worse than second and has taken on the best. How is he not ready for a fight? He was beaten twice by a really good horse. Period. He would be going for the Triple Crown if not for I'll Have Another.

Just because he's a front runner doesn't mean he's more suited for shorter races. He just ran triple digit beyers at 10 and 9.5 furlongs! I think Bodemeister would win the Belmont Stakes.
Easy Goer turned the tables on Sunday Silence, so I don't see why Bodemeister couldn't do it, but we'll never know.
