In addition, the Sanford Police Department is coming under scrutiny for not only not following proper procedures where Zimmerman is concerned, but for a history of racial issues:
<<In 2010, police waited seven weeks to arrest a lieutenant’s son who was caught on video sucker-punching a homeless black man. In 2005, two security guards — one the son of a longtime Sanford police officer and the other a department volunteer — killed a black man they said was trying to run them over. Black leaders complained of a lackluster investigation. The guards ultimately were acquitted.>> Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/1...#storylink=cpy It's come out that Trayvon was on the phone to a friend five minutes before he was shot, freaking out about the strange man following him. Of course, his cell phone has conveeeeeniently disappeared, though the friend's cell phone records confirm that he was on the phone with her right before the shooting. The cops did not administer a drug or alcohol test on Zimmerman, which is standard procedure. And of course there was the refusal to release the 911 tapes until public pressure got too great.

This is so sick, that this can happen in this day. Any hope this country was really mostly post-racial certainly has been disproven in a hundred different ways after the election of this president. It's a very thin veneer covering the hate.

Moral of the story...
Riot won't tolerate whites being racist. If other skin tones are racist against whites then it's o.k. because of sh.it that happened in previous generations. This is what happens when the last history book you read is in college. You become utterly f.ucking retarded on the subject. Kudos to you, Riot. You are white liberal America. |

I am at a loss as to why people thought that the election of a President would make people less biased or racist? Not to mention that this country hardly has a monopoly on racist people. Most conflicts in the world have a large element of race/religion involved

I doubt anybody thought that. It's backwards. The thought would be that the election of a mixed-race president could occur in the first place because enough voters were less biased or racist. Quote:
And that hate and racism and bigotry should be least tolerable in the United States than anywhere else on earth, according to our Constitution. Our whole existence here is founded upon, "All men are created equal". Obama's election merely brought the racist and intolerating and bigoted out of their crypts, where we can point at them in disgust.

But that doesn't mean we should tolerate that here. Racism is learned behaviour. Do you think we should tolerate racism in the United States?

I believe that it is your right to be racist as long as you remain within the laws of the land. I wouldn't consider myself racist in the least and have disassociated myself at times of my life with those who are but sometimes the political correctness in this country gets completely out of hand.
