The bottom line of this research is that it will help to find the causes of a condition called "hole in the heart" that six in ten thousand babies are born with. It's why they are rushed to the operating room from the delivery room for heart surgery. If the causes can be found, then genetic interventions might also be, and inutero remedies could be implemented.
There are also many other applications for understanding fgf 15 and fgf 9.
One is retinal cancer and another might be the malformation of other kinds of cells (cancers).
