Let alone as even the article says, "Boy babies are traditionally prized much more highly than girls in Afghanistan, where a son means a breadwinner and a daughter is seen as a drain on the family until she is married off. i hope so. just seems when you read stories such as this that it's still a very long way from happening. too far. the attitudes towards the female in so many parts of the world is simply unconscionable and appalling. even here you still see too many reminders that not everyone thinks all are created equal.
bad enough that a man would think it acceptable to kill his wife for giving birth to a (gasp) girl, but to know his mother was in on it. absolutely beyond words how disgusting.

who brought up killing children? the wife was killed; i think the two daughters are with a relative. the monster in law is in jail; the husband is on the run.
