Oh no, I winced just reading the chart. Do we know that Ryan's Gold was euthanized just by seeing "broke down" or is there any chance of being vanned off without that being mentioned? It doesn't sound good here. I can only hope the other horses involved are okay as well as the jockeys.

To ask a stupid question, is Not for Winston listed as 3rd for being the last horse to have a problem and DNF? Does that even pay anything? Or is there really no 3rd place, and he just gets slapped up there by the computer by default?

Not for Winston didn't pay because he finished without a rider. Exactly what places the horses in that order on the chart I can't say.
