I agree with almost everything you said here (painful to say it
) except I don't think Boeheim is in the same ball park as Paterno, at least not yet. The Syracuse situation is going to keep snowballing I think, but I don't think Boeheim had any idea about. IMO Paterno knew it all, especially with seemingly so much of it occuring on campus.
Boeheim probably shouldn't have come out so strongly against the accusers when this first came out, he was wrong there. But I don't think he just ignored it for the sake of the university like Paterno did.
Of course, I could be totally wrong as it's getting more and more difficult to take anything these guys say at face value.
