Thanks for posting these. I remember that day well. Interesting to see the name Ramon Perez because it seemed like he just kind of disappeared. Found this article on him.

I always figured he just outgrew it.. i remember him being on the taller side.. Mott once named him to ride Cigar in a dirt race, but scratched.. a week later Smith rode him for the first of his 16 wins.
