What do you think that late pick 4 on Saturday pays if Goldikova wins? I figure it is $1,500 or so for 50 cents even with her winning. Hansen beats Union Rags. You had to go pretty deep to have Drosselmeyer. O'Brien's horse in the Turf was 4th or 5th choice.

I needed Turallure to hit that PK4 on a $16 ticket. Would love to know what people think the .50c PK4 would have been?

The parlay for .50 is $32,842 but Turallure was on a lot of P4 plays.

I addressed this on air this morning and speculated that it would likely have been between $15k-$20k.

I had a $33 Pick 5 ticket alive and singled to Jackson Bend.
It was paying $30,107.
I was also alive to Force Freeze for 3k in Pick 3's and Double's also. (my 2nd choice)

The worst part was I felt I had to hedge, and spent $600 back wheeling Jackson Bend in exacta's.

Brilliant Speed, and Court Vision killed both my supers and Pick 4.

This was a burn for many people and a loss to a 60-1 shot it seems tougher than being beaten by a logical contender.

No doubt he was at or near the bottom of the list in recency and form and with more than a few up and comers with good recent form the public let him go at near twice the price of any non-contender.

The horse and connections deserve some credit though when all is said and done. In four starts this year he has changed trainers four times. Going into the race he was one of only four multiple G1 winners and his three G1 turf wins equaled the remainder of the field.

Court Vision may have appeared over the hill "years ago" but he ran a hell of a race. Good for him.

On Saturday, I bet a small 50 cent PK 5 ticket for $15.

I was 4 out of 4, and alive to Jackson Bend. They showed the Wii Pays with about 8 minutes to post. It was paying $30,000 for 50 cents.

I felt hopeless, knowing if the 5-2 favorite wins, it pays me $30K, and then kept thinking..maybe Jackson Bend was better at 7 furlongs, he just ran a lifetime top figure in the slop, would he regress, would be be too far back with the way the track was playing, etc.. etc...

Obviously, Jackson Bend was a non-threatening 3rd, but Amazombie and Big Drama were the only other horses I considered including.

The "woulda coulda shouldas" that haunted me the rest of the night (I was in Vegas at the time, so imagine the night I could have had in that town with that kind of money), knowing how investing another $30 could have made such a difference on that small ticket.

I wouldn't call this a bad beat or a heartbreaker -- but it's a pretty amusing story.

Going into the Breeders Cup Mile -- my whole entire betting strategy was simply to get both Gio Ponti and Goldikova beat -- but have them both finish together underneath in the exotics.

Gio Ponti is a hanger -- to me he was near certain on the board -- but couldn't win.

I was very turned off with Goldikova's chances of winning when I heard them claim they wanted to lay 3rd or 4th and let her use tactical speed. I didn't think she'd have any punch staying close to horses like Get Stormy and Sidney's Candy. But, she was way too classy and consistant to not finish on the board against those -- especially with a certain ground saving trip.

So -- I bet the race keying only them 2nd and 3rd in tri's. And 2nd and 4th and 3rd and 4th in Supers.

I'm happy when they finish 3rd and 4th.

Suddenly, I remember that I used ALL in the 2nd slot of every dime super. But I excluded Court Vision and one other horse from the first slot. Saving me $4 while I'm betting off a voucher that was worth several thousand.

The 10-cent super 9-13-1-5 paid $1,346.34 that race. Had I not "saved" like $4 a rattle on my gigantic voucher I'd have hit it four times for $5,385.36 -- The reason you play dime tickets multiple times is to avoid signing, by the way... I'd have been signing for each ticket though.

Anyway, since I gave Court Vision less than a 1% chance of winning -- and I hated Turralure from his post -- I REALLY didn't deserve to win that race... and would have been lucky had I not been so comically cheap.

last years late pick 4 paid $3998 for .50 (i'll never forget...hehehe)..think $1500 would have been pretty low compared to last years sequence

went something like

FAVORITE (Goldikova)
50-1 shot
14-1 shot
Blame (second choice)

Did a story ever come out about the one ticket alive in the PK 6 going into the Classic, that only had Rattlesnake Bridge and Ruler on Ice covered?
(Unless I read the willpays incorrectly)

Seems like someone played a ticket with birthdays or anniversaries instead of common sense, if they got that far and had those 2 covered in the classic.

Eh...I'm sure they are crying about having 2 tickets for 5 of 6. Or not.

My common sense tickets earned me zero dollars in the pick-6. I need friends and family with better birthdays.

I know that one of them was a pick quick. Not sure about the other.

I dont know what was more heartbreaking - missing out on the late pick 4 by Court Vision or missing out on a photo opportunity with Bo Derek

I'm disappointed you even have to think about that. It's obvious which is more heartbreaking.

I'll get Bo next year!!

My big regret on Friday was not getting a photo with our very own Andy Serling - I was too starstruck to ask!

It's amazing how petite Bo Derek is... taller than you of course, but petite.
