I think so too. Looking at the type of fractions Bernardini faced in his last few races, DC would run away from him. The Sheiks probably know this too.

I don't believe that Bernardini has ever HAD to run those faster fractions... why run a 23 second quarter if he doesn't have to? I'm extremely interested in seeing how Bernie does in the classic, as I think that he's going to have to run faster fractions than he's had to in his previous starts.

I'm not sure which horse the Sheiks think is better... my gut tells me that they're not sure, because if they were, I really think they'd run them both in the BCC. IF they did that and Bernie lost, it'd be bad news bears, but it would be one hell of a race if they did.

I am not exactly sure why a lot of people seem to think that Discreet Cat would not be able to handle 10f.
His dam, Pretty Discreet, was a G1 winner going 10f.
His broodmare sire, Private Account, was a multiple G1 winner going 10f.
I suppose this perception is because he is by Forestry - who was a bit of a tweener - but Forestry was out of a Pleasant Colony mare, and Pleasant Colony sired predominantly routers.
Of course, you never really know what a horse will do going 10f until he does it, but when you add the way he looked going 9f to his pedigree (particulary the more important dam-side) it seems like he could be very effective going 10f.
