Im thinking quick pace unless some of you think that these horses will get a lobotomy before the BC. Or perhaps you think they will fan out seven wide stalking just behind the leader because many of these dont want to run midpack.

46 half and 1:11 for the mile.

Believe me, I hope you're right. I've got a couple that I want to play that will definitely come from off the pace.

If Perfect Drift hits the top three in the Classic I will change my signature to "I am a complete idiot for not realizing that hell has just frozen over to allow Perfect Drift to run top three in the Classic" or whatever more complimentary signature the Perfect Drift fans would prefer. I hope that when he doesn't hit the board they put something up to the effect of "I'm a stupid goo-goo and was totally wrong about Perfect Drift".

If it gets hot up front, I think he has a shot. Considering he has hit the board in 9 of 9 at CD (1 win), and considering he hit the board in previous BC attempt, it's tough not to give him some sort of shot.

THe Pace factor here is all About Lawyer Ron will he or won't he be able to Rate. I realize his works with Pletcher have been a little slower so obviously they are trying to get him to relax but it is a whole different ballgame in the afternoon. If LR reverts to his old self out of the gate and grabs ahold of the bit we could be looking at pretty quick fractions if he does relax who knows what will happen.

If Lawyer Ron goes I hope McKee doesn't attempt to strangle him back. That never works anyway. It's tough to get horses like Lawyer Ron to rate -- any trainer will tell you that to teach a horse to rate is one of the toughest things to do. Once the gate opens, the horse usually reverts to its natural running style.

The 14 horse field, the large crowd, and the commotion in general will add to the difficulty in getting some of the horses to rate.

I'm not convinced at this point that a quick pace is going to help the favorites in this race.
