What ever happened to MLB experimenting with QuesTec? Things seem worse with greater variability in the strike zone from umpire to umpire.
Seems like as long as the umpires union answers to nobody, intelligent compromises like the tennis people have can never be used.

Giving a manager so many "tennis like" challenges a game for ball and strike calls wouldn't add all that much time to a game since the tennis version seems to be over in 20 secs and would force these umps to adjust these bad strike zones or be embarassed nightly . The present system has no incentive for the umps to improve.

The TBS box is making things look worse than they are. Just as super slo-mo makes umps and refs look bad on a constant basis.

Each ump has their own zone and players adapt to it, that's the way it's always been and that's the way it should be. Calls go both ways and the incentive for umpires is the post season. If you want to come up with a system for challanging a play in the field, I could understand it, but you can't be serious about challanging balls and strikes. It would be a disaster and games that take too long now will take even longer.

I wouldn't have a problem with managers being able to challenge a safe/out call. For instance, I'm still pretty sure Ramon Santiago was safe on that second inning double play call from yesterday.
