gp here just announced an 'indefinite' closure of both plywood and stud mills. 700 laid off beginning nov. 7.

tony works at paper, but my oldest works at plywood. ****.

yeah, it does stink. he was enjoying it out there, and was about to move into maintenance-he was a gas turbine elec. in the navy five years. he has options-he'd been thinking of going back in the service, or he could go to school (gi bill, yay) and get a degree in elec. engineering. kid's bright as hell. hell, they could change their minds, or be back up in march when const. generally picks back up.
it's the first time the whole joint shut down since we've been here (15 years).
feel bad for everyone, this is a small community to lose that many jobs. and a lot of people don't have his brains or background. they won't find it as easy to get something new.
