You do realize the protest was originally planned to protest the interim MILITARY government.

Send the senior citizens their checks. If there's money left over (there's not!) then worry about Egypt. And a responsible adult does in fact cut spending during a recession. In fact they may even go so far as reducing everyday necessities like gas and electricity. Would be nice if the government did the same but this administration is the opposite of responsible and hence we're 3 days away from not being able to pay bills. At least we have the fond memories of Cash for Clunkers etc.

What I find very strange is the fact the average overpaid government employee, congressmen and senators included, apparantly have no threat of not being paid or even having pension checks delayed, while seniors who have actually contributed money all their working lives (only to have it replaced by IOU's in a Ponzi-like scam)and those fighting for the country are Obama's first targets.
