Daylasoul euthanized after tractor-trailer collision

A thoroughbred horse was hit by a tractor-trailer early Thursday and later had to be destroyed after it escaped from a barn near the Saratoga Race Course.

Saratoga Springs police received a call around 7 a.m. about a loose horse near Gridley Avenue, followed by a call about a collision on Route 9 near the National Museum of Dance.

Lt. Bob Jillson said the northbound truck struck the horse, a 3-year-old filly named Daylasoul. The horse was subsequently euthanized.

Very sad. I have no idea how he got to route 9 from the barns. I live right down the street from where it happenned and heard the sirens.
