![]() Is Wesley Ward on the Breeders Cup board of directors?
This is a ridiculous idea. ![]() |

![]() If that were true the BC would be held in April at KEE.

![]() From a business perspective, races with the "Breeders' Cup" brand handle way more than a nondescript undercard stake.... significantly so. So the spreadsheet side of the decision makes sense.
From a personal handle perspective, it's another race to handicap, and it's hard as is to devote the right amount of time to all of them. And naturally, you need more coin to get involved. From a horse perspective... I would legitimately worry about yanking horses out of the Juvenile. Does Stay Thirsty stay in the Juvenile last year? But ultimately, the field for this race is not going to be confused with the group in the Juvenile, and the trade-off to a stronger betting race on the undercard probably makes it worth it. |

![]() Put me in the minority but I actually like this addition. Unlike the Juvy Turf events, this actually has a place in American racing. What do the vast majority of 2yo's in this country do? They sprint on dirt.

![]() My bad. Much better. Still want 1 day but I am ok with a 2 yr old sprint on dirt. I will give my all important blessing.

![]() This doesnt come close to their worst decision. I like the idea, but let's hope tht this isnt the beginning of some other bright new ideas. Count me as a fan of the one-day event.

![]() I agree totally. I also have a feeling that this is going to be a more popular race for trainers. I've long wished that there was no 2yo racing beyond 6f anyway and I think that having them race shorter instead of pushing them to run further than they are ready for that early in their careers will be better in the long run. At least I hope so because I'm tired of seeing half the crop broken down by the summer every year.

![]() This race makes more sense than some of the other newer additions.
It's like a last hurrah for some exciting 2yos that won't amount to much past this point. Like the runnerup to Uncle Mo in last years BCJ. |
