I'm just glad the Belmont is being held on Saturday and not today. The heat is absolutely oppressive today.

The card looks nice enough, though why does the Acorn always seem to come up with barely enough entries for me to count on more than one hand?

There were 13 horses in the Acorn last year and 9 the year before.

Fair enough. I was thinking of the Zaftig year where I believe only five or six were entered.

2007 Acorn had six entrants.
2006 Acorn ran with only seven (though two were scratched at the gate).
2005 also had six.

I don't mean to be contrary, but why do you guys think this? The quality is always the tops, but does the Belmont stakes undercard always make for the best betting races? I'm not positive about that.

Go to equibase historical charts and look at the last 4 Belmont day cards.. Absolute Box car exotic payouts all over the place in the graded races.

I don't think it's been the best, the Derby was. But this is a very nice card with a lot of nice races.
