RIP Meese Rocks

Thank you too to the Terranova Stable for posting about her. So many times horses just "disappear" and fans are left wondering (and often worrying) about what happened to them. No one likes to post such sad news but it does give fans of a horse a bit more understanding about the horse and it's nice to know that owners and handlers care as much as they do.

I just lost my boy, Monroe (avatar) to colic on Preakness day so I fully sympathize.

Linny, so very sorry to hear about your boy Monroe. Very sad news indeed. I wish I had some magic words to make you feel better but we both know those words don't exist. Just know I'm thinking about you and Monroe.

I was not aware of Meese Rocks but clearly she was such a very special mare. My heart goes out to everyone involved with, and close to this very special mare.

Sad news all around.

I suspect he may be up there bucking off Man O'War's exercise rider. He had one heck of a leap. He liked to jump, maybe he's trying 'chasing?

Thank you for the condolences. I still can't believe he's gone. I haven't had the heart to bring my tack box home.

Sorry for your loss, Linny. As you well know, we understand how difficult this is.

Taking Linny's cue, we added our girl as our avatar. This is her motoring home in the home stretch at Belmont en route to a 2 length win in the 2010 Iroquois Stakes. It was one of her best days on the track, and one of our greatest moments as owners. May she always be remembered this way.

Also, I wanted to mention that the classy folks from New York Thoroughbred Breeders wrote a touching tribute to Meese Rocks earlier today. You can find it on their site at www.nytbreeders.org. We will be updating our blog with a much deserved acknowledgment of appreciate to them, as well as to all of you. We believe that helping horse fanatics and casual fans get behind specific horses is one of the many things we can do to help restore our sport to prominence. We're all in it together.

Once again, a million thanks.
