You tell me which mega program D1 coaches are 100 percent pure? I have no sympathy for Tressel and stated that in this thread. He deserves what he got.

No chance. I went to school there and saw the parking lot at football practice! My guess is he knew absolutely nothing about it! I'm pretty sure there was at least 1 rich alumni booster at PSU! I'm sure there was a chance Joe knew nothing about anything at the time, sort of like Tressel at Youngstown St and again at OSU.

Would Tressel have gotten fired if he hadn't lied and tried to cover up?

College athletics and the NCAA are so broken beyond repair in general. It's mostly the NCAA. There really should be no rules on monetary gains by athletes at all. I think any school booster should be allowed to pay any athlete as much as they want, as long as the alumni in question isn't an employee of the university. I think any athlete should be allowed to be paid by an agent for his entire stay in college if he chooses. I think any athlete should be allowed to sell or trade any crap they received from the school for whatever service they desire as long as it's legal, be it tattoos, cars, stereos etc. Whatever free crap they received is now "theirs". They should be allowed to work wherever the heck they want to make extra money. The only rules that should apply is that they are academically eligible. Of course that is another monster on it's own how that is achieved!! Of course none of this will ever happen as we truly hate freedom in this country and in other countries as well as we are truly afraid of what freedom actually will bring. The athlete should get the scholarship from the school and that's it. Whatever else they get from non-employees of the university should be open and allowed with no punishment from the NCAA. Let the crap go and let it run it's course. See what happens.
