I know when he rode in California, he battled a drug problem. This is so sad.

He really looked like the next big thing back in 2007 in So Cal. I wondered why he lost the mount on Nehro after the LA Derby. |

It hasn't been all that long, that he was riding first call for Wayne Catalano I think? Wow, very sad news condolences to the entire Baze family.

Tragic. Very sad.
I read a few of the non-racing media articles about this. More than one identifies Baze as "having just ridden Nehro to a 2nd place finish in the Kentucky Derby." In fact, one article make this mistake, and then one paragraph later states he hadn't ridden in a race since April. I mean, is it really THAT hard to get simple facts correct? Of course, the non-racing media also still refers to any son of Dynaformer as "Barbaro's half-brother." |
