Same here, he could have lost the photo and let me be even more disappointed by being live to 5 horses in the derby before I lost.

Not exactly. Smiling Tiger had trouble and Apriority had to wait for room before getting into full flight. And then there was Capt. Candyman Can, who was given an embarrassing ride.

Yes i agree. I needed Aprioriy badly. That was the one race that ended everything for me. I believe i tossed 3 different tickets in the trash right then and there.

Apriority losing effectively sank Saturday for me too.

It looked that way for me but all it did was spare me the hope of hitting the multi's, which I would not have, in the Derby.

Add me to that list. What's worse is I had Smiling Tiger as well and didn't even realize until watching the replay what a horrendous trip he had.

Yeah it cleared the table for me also. Wiped out 3 rolling P3,s 2 Doubles and 2 P4's all of which Aprority was the only loss. That was a 15 K nose. God I love the Pools on derby day.

Which was just an example of what those of us who have been following circuits where Calvin has ridden this year are already aware. He is a complete mediocrity who is a horrible judge of pace and race dynamics. He was extremely hesitant to perform the "Borail" acts that earned him such fanfare at OP and his performance this weekend, with the Candyman ride as the highlight, was awful.

No, Tiger had an awful trip and would've won the race by 2.

The Calvin Borel thing is actually pretty interesting. Because the KY Derby is far and away the most watched, and thus known, American horse race, Calvin Borel has achieved an almost diety like status among those that don't really follow the game....while those that do know that he is, at best, just another rider with modest success ( albeit at a fairly high level ). This is not to say he's a " bad rider, " per se, but not necessarily in line with our very best riders. Which begs, of course, the question " how is he being considered for the Hall of Fame? "

He was also on the Oaks 16-1 runner-up. He's a very solid handicapper.
