Quick story, I am one of those people that when I'm talking, my hands are flying around. I have a friend that I have known for about 6-7 years. One day I was talking with her and my hands were flying and she flinched, I thought nothing of it until she flinched again. Later that day, she pulled me aside and said "I know you like to talk with your hands, but is there anyway you can limit it when we are talking, it scares me"

She then proceeded to tell me about her past how she got hit from a boyfriend and was finally coming to grip with it and although she knew I was harmless, it stired up hard memories and that is why she was flinching.

It is so much more about the psychological part then it is the physical.
