Maybe Doug can tell us how many lengths Bind will need to win by to repeat his 105 Beyer in this upcoming race. No one else in the field has run higher than a 76 through 31 lifetime starts.

He's stretching out here of course, but at a mile, the difference between 29 Beyer points is at least 16 lengths.

If they go with a different variant for Bind's last start and adjust his 105 downward to a 95, and then assign a realistic regression of 10 points for this effort, the winner's Beyer would make sense today.

Was VERY keen to go on early. He may simply want to one turn.

Always feels like a mistake to not let the horse go on with it in that setting. But just the fact that Stall opted for this instead of something more ambitious (nee: demanding) suggests perhaps he had doubts about the two turns to begin with.

It is difficult for an older horse, much less a 3yo making his second start, to get 3/4s in 1:11 and change in a two-turn race at FG and go on to win the race. Howard was pretty high on Prime Cut earlier in the meet, and it was 12 lengths back to the third horse, so I'm willing to give Bind the benefit of the doubt off his effort today.

Maybe. Considering how much horse was wasted for the first 3/4s though, I don't think two turning is going to be a big issue.

Without having watched any other races there today, or recently, he did lose to a horse that was within 1/5th of a track record. He's also got breeding that would strongly suggest routing isn't a problem.

One thing I've felt for awhile, is that progeny of Pulpit seem to be a bit faint hearted.

As usual - you're making no sense.

As for what Bind ran today - his figure will come back 1 point less than the horse who beat him - and 3 points less than the Lousianna Derby winner.

As for Bind's debut ... Ragozin and Thoro-Graph both had Bind's debut race as equally fast or faster. The 4th place finisher out of that race came back to win by about 6 lengths and improve his figure by 13 points.

Bind refused to rate today - he was in a MUCH slower paced race than his debut - he was fighting the jockey the whole way with his mouth open.

Good horses off of great debut wins - have flopped 2nd time out with no excuse. Theregoesjojo easily beat Quality Road in an alw race 2nd time out off a big debut win. Ghostzapper was 4th in an alw race 2nd time out off of a huge debut win. etc. etc.
