It's a good gambit by the network. The market living in North America that follows cricket is enormous if you think India, Pakistan, UK, Aussie-Kiwi, West Indies, etc., and where else are they going to find live coverage of this World Cup? If they're marketing it correctly to those consumers, it's something cricket followers will subscribe to SiriusXM to get..

How are they supposed to do this? Send advertisements by mail to all the bodegas?

Coach you would be really surprised. I have met people to wager enormous amounts on Cricket.

Do they put a cap on the length of a cricket match for the World Cup, or could one of these things theoretically last an entire week?

A baseball game could theoretically last a week too. To that degree, there are more limits on cricket than baseball...the match is, to my knowledge, limited to a certain number of overs, which are, essentially, clusters of bowls (pitches) to batters. Played cricket with some Indians and it is quite fun.
